Santander nightlife

Santander’s nightlife is quintessentially Spanish with everything from traditional fiestas and bull fighting to late night music and tapas bars. You’ll find plenty of bars and nightclubs here but without the Geman-British international flavour of the big Mediterranean resorts such as Ibiza, Benidorm and the Costa del Sol.

Tapas-bar and winebar hopping is one of the most popular evening past times with the Spanish who chat the night away in the many pubs and bars located near the main Plaza behind the boat terminals. It’s a great way to meet people as you sample an endless supply of tasty morsels such as jamon serrano (cured ham), patatas bravas (spicy potatoes), boquerones en vinagre (vinegar-marinated whitebait) and local cheeses; washed down with the best quality Rioja wines. Around 2am is a good time to find one of many tasteful nightclubs where you can dance until daylight.
